In Bible times, people traveling by boat often encountered great dangers. Crew members and paying passengers battled not only rolling waves but apprehension and fear. They left behind the security of dry land and the loving faces of those seeing them off. No guarantees were promised for a safe return. “When we had come to the end of these days, we departed and went on our way; and they all accompanied us, with wives and children, till we were out of the city. And we knelt down on the shore and prayed. When we had taken our leave of one another, we boarded the ship, and they returned home (Acts 21:5-6 NKJ).

The Apostle Paul and traveling companions on missionary journeys often exchanged sad farewells with faithful followers. They …

My Time On The Lake by Jeff

supra-likenessAfter graduating college I found this beautifully kept cottage/house on one of Oakland County’s inland lakes. The house was small around 900 square feet with well kept, with knotty pine paneling on the inside and beautiful landscaping on the outside. I purchased the house from an older lady who told me she and her husband had owned the house for many years, she told me the importance of wiping down the paneling twice a year, once in the spring and once in the fall. Why I remember that I don’t know, maybe because of the passion and care she used to explain it to me.  She wanted the house to go to someone who cared for it, as she and her husband once did. She found the right guy!

Once I bought the house I did some minor fixing up, nothing major as it was in immaculate shape already, most of the work was on the outside lakefront area. It had a nice dock but weeds had overtaken where boats were once docked. Once this area was cleared I was able to maneuver my boat into its docking space, a 30′ red Supra, a beautiful boat used for skiing, tubing, …

My Time In Northern Michigan

Even Tide Tours TrainI remember before I went to work full time I visited northern Michigan, more specifically Marquette. I spent time there in summer and during the winter, each of those visits was a great experience with more than enough to do.  I guess that’s why I leaned toward getting into the photo business, I was able to take beautiful pictures during the summer which were breathtaking and during the winter months, I was able to capture absolutely gorgeous pictures of the lake front.

During one adventure into the woods, we stumbled across what appeared to be an old steam engine graveyard. For all train enthusiast, this was a once in a lifetime event, it was like all of a sudden we stumbled into a clearing of train tracks and there they were, standing in their quiet majesty, strong and still.  I don’t know if they were forgotten about or just left there to fade away, but it was a wonderful discovery, we climbed, we touched, we imagined what they were hauling, well we could see most of them seemed to be carrying ore from the local mines, ore was scattered all over the place. Tiny little balls resting there for who …

Some Day The “Yacht Life” By Celeste

eventidetours.comGrowing up in San Diego, CA was probably one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. I pretty much grew up in the water, whether it was being in the pool or going to the beach.  I was practically a fish.

Some of my best memories are the summers where I spent a few weeks with my best friend at her lake house. We would go out on her boat and go tubing and water skiing or just ride around and get tan! We were on the boat and in the water more than we were on land.

It made me think of how cool it would be to spend one of those days on a yacht. I have never been on a yacht but spending lots of time at the beach means you pretty much have seen every type of boat there is.  The yachts are what stuck out to me. The people on there were able to spend literally all day on the water. They didn’t have to worry about when they would eat or if the sun would get too hot where they would go. They had all the room they needed and it made me envious.…
